Swimming is a wonderful (injury-free) sport which has many physical and mental health benefits if practiced regularly:
CTC organizes weekly Open Water swimming practice sessions every Tuesday and Thursday morning 6-7:30am (as well as some weekends) at Ottiyambakkam. Those who haven't mastered the basics of swimming yet can sign up for one of the regular 2-week courses at any one of the SDAT pools around the city after which you can take your first steps in the open waters.
Every year CTC organizes 4 major events to test and showcase your swimming skills:
- March 4th - Chennai Swimathon (3, 5, 10, 15K)
- July 1st - Chennai Triathlon (Sprint, Olympic, Half Iron)
- Oct 22nd - Chennai Swimathon (3, 5, 10, 15, 21K)
- Dec 16th - Chennai Iron Triathlon (Olympic, Half, Full Iron)
