Awareness thro Flash Mob / Steet Play / MIME

After several weekends of selfless practicing its action time now for our volunteers from CTC, EFI and Bharathi Scout. We have successfully orchestrated a FlashMob on 31st May Evening in Express Avenue Mall followed by a wonderful Street Play from EFI team and a nicely coordinated MIME by Bharathi Scout. The event has been covered in NDTV 24*7 national news channel and was broadcasted on June 1 in the morning 8am prime slot. We are planning few more such events around public places & IT Parks. Be prepared to witness our volunteers in action if you are working in any of the other major IT parks :)

News & Media

Chennai Coastal Cleanup and our initiative #NoPlasticChallenge have been featured in various blogs and other news and media articles over the past weeks. An wonderful article published by folomojo staff Ryan Frantz have gone viral over facebook in the past 4 days. Within 4 days of publishing it has been shared by a whooping 20k people and by the time the number is still increasing. Read the full article here.

Another thoughtful article written by Sandhya Sourirajan on #NoPlasticChallenge has been published in TheAlternative.in - India's largest magazine on promoting sustainable living. Read the full article here.

Awareness thro Wall Painting

Our creative team volunteers from CTC have been indulged in putting their creative brain to work by painting arts on the walls around Chennai Beaches. Thanks to our CTC volunteer Karmuhilan Chellakkannu who has pulled off this wonderful wall painting at Thiruvanmiyur beach. Dont forget to have a look at this masterpiece when you pass by thiruvanmiyur beach. Over the next few days our volunteers in coordination with The Paint Box team will be filling up several other walls around Chennai beaches with their creative ideas, on spreading awareness about keeping our shores clean.

#NoPlasticChallenge

After several weeks of spreading awareness in social media about over usage of plastics in our daily life, its time to take #NoPlasticChallenge to the next level. Our volunteers have involved in educating local street vendors about how plastics affect our environment. Most of the vendors have been open minded and receptive about our thoughts and agreed to put up awareness poster in their shops, which urges their customers to use glass/steel tumblers instead of use & throw plastic items.

Awareness to Kids

"As a child, one has that magical capacity to move among the many eras of the earth; to see the land as an animal does; to experience the sky from the perspective of a flower or a bee; to feel the earth quiver and breathe beneath us; to know a hundred different smells of mud and listen unself- consciously to the soughing of the trees." - Valerie Andrews, A Passion for this Earth.

Our volunteers have actively engaged in spreading awareness about our eco-system and the need to maintain it through various events for kids in and around chennai. Last week our volunteers did a painting event for kids in Nochikuppam with the theme of sea and the animals that live in and how we humans are actively endangering their livelihood by polluting our shores. Several others events are in plan for the coming week, do watch out our ChennaiCoastalCleanup page for more updates.
