Write-up by Srikrishna:
After
somewhat long break due to the addition of a new member in our family, I
was very much looking forward to this trip. And true to the photo trip
style, there were some dropouts at the last minute which resulted in all
of us easily accommodated into the 21 seater van alone. The group as
usual had a mix of people from all walks and professions and
relationships like husband-wife, father-son,....That is the beauty and
the boon of these kind of trips. Surprisingly, the van arrived almost on
time and I boarded the van at our designated point of Nathan's Cafe,
Koyambedu.

Poondi Dam:
Our
first stop was at the Poondi Dam. Though we had missed the sunrise
which would have been a lovely affair with nature, The place was none
the less magnificent. We had a lovely view of the water in the dam, the
shutters in the place, the long winding road, the small motor room which
made a perfect setting for an old spooky place, two solitary fishermen
with their set of hooks and worms trying their luck in catching the
fish.

Krishna Water Canal:
Next
walking a small distance, we moved to the mouth of the canal where the
Krishna water flows in all the way from Andhra Pradesh to the Poondi
canal. The water gushing at a good pace was a treat to watch and some of
us had some nice shots. We even happened to see some of our ancestors
out of which few of them were magnanimous enough to pose for photos. ;)

Aadhi Agneeswarar temple:
Our
next stop was in the Aadhi Agneeswarar temple in Neyveli Village. Just
to give a sample of this temple is the fact that the goddess in this
temple is called as Lalithambigai [No other place in Tamilnadu has the
main female deity in this name except Thirumeeyachur which is the
primary famous place]. Also
the famous saints Jagadguru Bodhendra Swamigal and karuvoorthevar are
known to worship lord shiva in this temple in the form of bees.

Our organizer cum
in-house model Pramod [who is always ready] was very much obliging to
pose for the shutterbugs at this place. It was also refreshing to be
away from the urban clutter and spend some time in a nice temple
surrounded by green fields in all the directions. we also had a healthy
natural diet / breakfast in the form of of peaches and oranges.

Kone Falls:
We
next halted at the Kone falls situated near the nagala hills. There is a
small but beautiful shivan temple at the bottom of the falls. But we
decided to probe further a little bit and went up the hill to a small
falls. It was a medium / easy level of trek based on the fitness of the
trekker. Some of the keep-fit ehusiasists / hard-core trekkers decided
to probe further and went even upwards. This was a small sample / proof
of our individual fitness levels.

Ramagiri:
After
having a sumptous nice lunch at Utthukkotai, we moved to ramagiri. to
the best of my knowledge this is the only sivan temple where you will
find hanuman standing with folded hands in front of the Shiva lingam.
The god goes by the name of Valeeswarar. For those interested, the story of the temple can be had from this link: http://chennaionline.com/Religion/Temples/20132619022636/Ramagiri---Sri-Valeeswarar.col

We
then proceeded up the steps to the small hilllock adjoining the temple
for the sunset shots. The Sunset was a scene to behold from there and
our team was very much interested to give many shots for the
photographers.

After
a Long day, there are no words to describe in words how our group
devoured on the food in the Punjabi dhaba on our way back to Chennai.
Overall a nice and wonderful outing and i am pretty much sure that all
of us returned back to our homes with our hearts and minds content with
joy and lots of enjoyable moments. Looking forward to more such trips
from the dynamic duo of Pramod and Noel.
Cheers
