Nice write up by Varsha U and Joseprashanth

Being my first trek with CTC I was all excited for the weekend of April 20-21 to come.... After a couple of preparatory emails and texts from Shumon and Suchi we were all set to trek our way into the beautiful sunny valley of the Nagala West Peak...
We all gathered at Koyembedu at around 4.30 am in our respective cars and set off immediately without wasting much time. We met up with another couple, Shabbar and Allifiya at Madhavaram junction and then continued to drive towards Nagalapuram.....
After a and a half hour drive we reached our base camp at around 6.15am. We quickly started off with making yummy sandwiches for breakfast.....

After small instructions and introduction, we set foot on the tiny hill to get a beautiful view of the lake and the dam and started walking further into the bushes and the river bed....
We reached the first pool around 8.30 am.... i felt great to get into the cool clear pool.... after about 20 min we continued to trek further up the peak....
We later walked our way up to the 2nd pool and futher maneuvered our way through the tricky branches, rocks and tiny streams of water to the reach the beautiful 3rd pool. None of us could stop ourselves from getting into the crystal clear water at the very sight of it ....We swam, floated, got our fish pedicures :P..... and it gave us all a refreshing feeling.....

Since for most of us this was the first trek to Nagala, we were too curious to know where we would be camping and we all kept asking Shumon and Suchi how much further the camp site was.... :P But they were patient to tell us.... :)
We trekked further and reached a beautiful waterfall.....we all ventured under the free falling water for a mini bath and the massage from the forceful water.... a relief to our tired shoulders and neck..... Suchi set up the fire by then and then the yummy lunch (sambar rice and bisibelai baath) was ready in no time after which we all took a power nap on the rocks beside the waterfall for an hour....

We then had to trek a long way, climbing and descending various kinds of small hillocks, crossing fierce and fast flowing one by one....
After a really long walk and trying really hard to push our minds and bodies towards our final camp site, we were all relieved to hear from Shumon that we would be camping here.... The camp site again was at an altitude of 600m with a breathtaking view.....from where we could see the elegant dam and the sunset....

We then went busy with setting up our own places to sleep for the rest of the night.... Just when we had decided to set up the fire, there were light drizzles and then it started raining.... for a moment we all wondered if this would ruin our camp fire but we all took it sportily and soon gathered ourselves under one sheet for shelter.... The rain gradually stopped and we were all back to setting up our so called "homes" for the night and collecting dry firewood....

Merriment started with a round of tea prepared by Gnanavadivu aunty.....followed by soup.....  We then started off with talking and getting to know about every couple...how they met etc etc.... and as most of them were married it was fun listening to both sides of the story....
After a long anxious wait for Shumon,Karthik and Prashanth who had gone back to the stream down to collect water in the dark, we enjoyed eating our Maggi and we hit our sleeping mats....lying amongst the grass staring at the dark sky we were all soon asleep.... It started getting cloudier after a while and it also drizzled, but most of us just tucked ourselves into our sheets and continued to sleep....
The 2nd day started with a beautiful sunrise between the mountains.... We soon packed our bags and started descending to the fall where we filled all our bottles with tasty water and cooked yummy breakfast (chocos with milk)....

We then followed the same trail down the peak.... Descending down a hill or peak is way too difficult than climbing up... I asume most of us knew that but we realised it quite well when we slipped on rocks and slid down a path.... We only held on to the vegetation and made our way down slowly ....we then reached the 3rd poool where we took a long break..... venturing our tired feet into the chill crystal clear water.....
After a really long walk in the rain, we finally reached the river bed which was such a relief to all of us....We grabbed some snacks and posed for a couple of group photos.... It was again the end of a beautiful daylight with the sun setting in....painting the sky in bold orange....

We then walked for a few minutes to reach our base camp at about 6pm.... We then left just before it was too dark and stopped at a nearby dhabba for dinner.... After some really really sspicy food we all bid adieu and went our own ways...
Overall it was a very refreshing and adventurous trek.... Also since it was a couples trek m sure it would have helped understand your partner better and also would have taken the relationship to the next level.....

All thanks to Shumon and Suchi for organizing everything so well.... Hoping to trek more and more to CTC....
Cheers!!!! :)  Happy Trekking!!!
