Say No to Plastic @ MGM Resort and Dizze World

 2, August 2015, Friendship Day!  But to our Team, CESAW it was not just a friendship day, more than that. Globally people around the world were celebrating Friendship Day with high spirits by wishing each other over the phone, whatsapp, facebook, facebook messenger, skype, blah...blah...... You might question us, didn't you celebrate and wish your friends on the day?? Yes, we do did! but how? here we go........

Say No To Plastic! what? Yes, Say No to Plastic!! Around 12 in the noon, members of CTC Awareness Group were been dropped in at MGM Resort to spread the awareness about the hazards of plastics, hazards of using plastics, how it effects the environment? It was very easy for the Group to spread the awareness through one of the medium called "Flash Mob". Once we reached the Resort, found out group of corporate people who were enjoying their weekend as well as Friendship Day by partying, singing and dancing with music system! ( obviously, they were using Environmental Villain "plastic" cups,  "Plastic" bottles....). 

Whats is Flash Mob by the way? :-

A flash mob is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place and perform an unusual and seemingly pointless act for a brief time before quickly dispersing. They are often used for the purposes of entertainment, satire or artistic expression.

Why was the Flash Mob Conducted? :-

Flash Mob was conducted to grab the attention of people in the resort, Dizze World  to communicate our social message -

"Say No to Plastic".

Why you did your Team Choose the Theme "Say No to Plastic" ? :-

Plastic is widely used in our day to day life. Starting from a pen to a polythene bag in which we carry fruits and books are forms of plastic. Though convenient in our day to day use, it has posed an alarming threat to the environment.

Can you elaborate more about Hazards of using Plastic? :-

· Plastic is non-biodegradable and do not decay by biological actions of microbes. They remain in the same state as we throw them. So, dumps or 

garbage's are created making our cities and soil polluted.

· To destroy plastics, we can either recycle or burn them. If we burn plastic, they emit harmful chemical gases like carbon dioxide 

(CO), carbon monoxide (CO), nitrous oxide (NO), methane (CH4), sulfur dioxides (SO2), etc. These gases pollute our environment, 

though in negligible content, they add to green house effect and endanger our environment.

· The wastes of plastic block pipes and sanitary lines so that dirty water came out on roads. This cause fear of malaria, cholera and 

other diseases.

· The wastes of plastic bags, bottles, etc. are drawn to a sea or an ocean by rivers and they are deposited in them. They pollute and disturb the eco-system of the sea or the ocean.

How to safe guard our environment from plastics? :-

· reduce use of plastic wherever possible

· use recyclable bags  

How did Flash Mob Started ? :-

Our Group members created (Fictional) a quarrel scene which made people in the Resorts to turn their eyes towards us, followed by foot tapping Kollywood song "All day Jolly Day" which even more grabbed the attention of the crowd  by giving weird look at us. From here on we performed for the songs i) Chenni City Gangsta - Vanakkam Chennai, ii) English Song , iii) a small skit  and iv) Lungi Dance - Chennai Express

why was the skit been performed in between English song and Lungi Dance, what was it about?

Just to make sure that we are here to spread environment message "Say No to Plastic" to crowd and  it was performed exclusively by 

Ashwanth and Kamal by a normal conversation between the two guy,  then  followed by Lungi Dance.

Ashwanth: Maha Janangaley (looking at crowd), unga kailyila payilla irukka Rs.5, Rs.10 kodutha ivanga ( looking at dancers) saaputukku 

aagum.

Kamal: Illa Illa...... Ivanga kaasukku aadura kootam illai. Ivanga Yetho Seithi Solla Vanthu irukaanga.

Ashwanth : Yenna Seithi?

Kamal : Neguzhi namakku eavlavu keduthalnu solla vanthu irukaanga.

Ashwanth : Neguzhi Na?

Kamal : Un Tamzhi le Theeya Vekka! Neguzhi na plastic, adho andha Aunty kei le irukeym idho indha kuzhandhei kei le irukey.

Ashwanth : ippadiya seithi solluvaanga?

Kamal : Ippadiyum Solluvaanga!

How was the Response from Crowd?

It was Fabulous! overwhelming! They Supported our initiative after the performance ended!

Has your Performances ended up here?

Hahahahah...............! No, We performed inside MGM Dizze World as well on the same day but after short break of two hours near the Swimming Pool.

Mean while did you guys had  Masti Time?

Yes, We do had and it was funny to be around the group members especially New Avatars. OMG! They were Trolling! and Few Pictures for your dispaly-
