India Clean Sweep II - Coimbatore, Vizag & Thanjavur

India Clean Sweep is an annual event organized by Chennai Trekking Club. 

Started in 2014, in its first year cleaning activities were organized at 10 different cities in South India. 

This year we are spreading across to 11 Cities, which will be participating in the mega event planned on June 7. Its time to introduce the participating cities and the teams which will be coordinating the event. Below are the team/event details of the first 3 cities participating in this year India Clean Sweep.

 

 

Coimbatore

 

Teams : EFI & RAAC

Cleanup Location : Selvachintamani Kulam

Environmentalist Foundation of India (EFI) is an environmental conservation group based out of Chennai, Hyderabad, Pondicherry and Coimbatore which focuses on wildlife conservation and habitat restoration. Started in 2007 and registered in 2011, the organization is known for its work in cleaning and scientific restoration of lakes in India for biodiversity. EFI's Eco-projects are Lake/River restoration, Herbs Restoration, Stray Animal Care etc.

Residents Awareness Association of Coimbatore(RAAC) is working towards creating a  good, pleasant and serene living atmosphere favorable for leading a Healthy and Peaceful life. The various projects undertaken by RAAC in Coimbatore are restoration of Marudhamalai , Periyalkulam and Perur Padithurai.

EFI and RAAC are together organizing cleanup of Selvachintamani Kulam as part of this year's India Clean Sweep.

MC3 (My City Clean City)

MC3 trust is a group of youngsters from various fields who have joined together with a common motive to make Coimbatore City Cleanand help the really needy people. MC3-G4 (Go Green Globally Green) - works on Tree Plantation, maintaining existing trees, organic plantation, cleanup and maintenance of lakes, ponds, temples to make Coimbatore greener and cleaner.

Cleanup Planned locations :

      1. Starting from June 5 Cleanup and Wall Painting. Location : Corporation reserved site, Cut side to Radha Rani Theatre, Text tools stop. Jai Shanthi theatre, Near Shanthi theatre,Singanallur.

      2. Park near Vada Kovai flyover, Coimbatore.

      3. Mettupalayam Road stretch - cleanup Plantation.

Visakhapatnam

Team : MEECONS

Cleanup Location : King George Hospital

Mother Earth Environmental Consciousness Society (MEECONS)  is planning to revamp KGH and AMC by cleaning, painting and plantation activities. The team wishes to clean the litter off KGH roads, paint walls with health and environment slogans, put up dust bins where needed, put up awareness posters at various places, get mosquito larvicide sprayed in KGH premises.

Thanjavur

Team : Natives of Thanjavur

Cleanup Location : Samanthaan Kulam

Natives of Thanjavur is a Public welfare Trust/NGO started by like minded social friends. Motive of this trust is to develop Thanjavur town, help poor people, renovate temples and water bodies in and around Thanjavur. As part of this years India Clean sweep Natives of Thanjavur team is organizing cleanup at a pond called "Samanthaan Kulam" which belongs to ancient Pandiya period (13th Century).

Event will be inaugurated by Thanjavur Mayor Mrs. Savithri Gopal.
