32 volunteers took 45 kids from Saranalaya to Nagala North east.

Here is the write up by Lakshmi Jyothsna
Hello everyone,

Here is my short write up about our trip. Kindly excuse me for any flaws. It’s my first trek and will remain etched in my heart. I can’t describe my experience in words, it’s simply superb. The trek turned out to be the most wonderful one since it felt good to make people to come out of the bubble of limitation and open out their soul to see the beauty of Mother Nature.

A group of 20 participants leaded by Peter started the journey from Tidel, went to the Saranalaya for pick up of the 45 kids along with 3 care takers. From there all of them proceeded towards NH4 (Bangalore Highway), the pickup point to meet the other group. We the group of 12 participants headed by Thilak started from Koyambedu after collecting the food packets. The two groups met at Panimalar College and from there together proceeded towards Nagala in the foggy & cool pleasant weather which is very encouraging to the group.

Convoy of 11 cars with all the participants headed towards Nagala. The journey in the car along the green fields made all of us feel the fresh air and pleasant. After crossing the Utthukotai junction we all stopped in a mango orchard to have our breakfast. All the kids and participants enjoyed the food under the green shelter of mango trees. Then we started our journey to the beautiful land of nagala.

We reached Nagala by 11.30 am which was a little late than pre-determined time for starting the trek. We all parked our cars at the school in the village. Each kid was assigned a volunteer to take care of them during the trek. Then all the common gears and food items were distributed. Since the group was pretty excited and was looking forward to the jungles and water, without wasting any time, we proceeded further and started to walk.Right from the beginning the volunteers had taken appropriate care of the kids. The climate was very hot. After walking a bit on the flat land we reached the way leading into the forest.

Then we started walking inside into the woods. After a half a mile of walking we came across a small pool and from there we walked along the crystal clear water streams by our way. The kids and participants walked and walked and walked through the way with full excitement and energy. The kids were really awesome and far better than us in their mental courage and strength. Finally we reached a considerable distance where there is another pool and for sometime along with the kids the participants also enjoyed the trek and played well in the water. The participants had interestingly taken pics everywhere.

We again started walking deep into the forest proceeding towards the other pool located ahead in the forest. Initially it was smooth going but later thorns decorated our way. Realy hats off to the kids who never feared to walk through the forest. After reaching the pool the kids enjoyed in the water for some time and after that we had our lunch over there. Here, I specifically want to mention the thought provoking policy of CTC not to pollute the environment and to encourage the people to save the environment. Accordingly, we carried big covers to keep all the garbage generated by us in the trek. Finally after all of us had our lunch we started walking towards another pool which was a little bit further in the forest.

After 10 mins of walk we reached a pretty good place. I really never expected that kind of place there. I wondered on seeing the flow of water over there and the water tasted too good. The kids are more thrilled to see a deep pool of water and had fun over there by playing in it with swimming tubes and with fishing activities.  We didn't get to stay much there and had to descend fast.

After refreshing and taking rest for some time we resumed our return journey and returned back to the base. At the end of the trek before dispersing we all on the suggestion of Sri Rajeendra Ratnam took an oath to save the environment by not using carry bags....

It was a first experience for many people in the group and they had enjoyed well. All the participants are good minded and friendly people! No Selfishness! No attitude shows!  The co-operation which we received from every participant was amazing. The travel was really enjoyable. Each one of us came in as individuals, but left as a team… In the end, that is all that matters…

I have much more to say but to finish it off in one final word that it was an incredible experience enjoyed to the fullest. Looking forward to team up once again for a different location with you all.
