Who said girls drive only soft bikes like scooty and Pep Plus? The modern girls ride giant size Bullets, Yamaha, Pulsar and other 'Bada' size bikes, all so casually!
"We started driving to show girls can drive boys' bikes as easily as boys. Actually, we are from different places and Chennai Trekking Club is what brought us together. We found www.chennaitrekkingclub.org when searching the net. The site was announcing a 'Blood Donation Campaign' from Chennai to Yelagiri and they were looking for girls who can drive bikes. Immediately we said we are ready and applied.", said Swetha, Ala Johri, Chitra, Preethika, Gayatri.
All of them are in their twenties. Except Gayatri, others are working in offices. Ala Johri's favorite bike is Yahama R15!
"Lot of guys try to overtake a girl driving a bullet - to see the novelty. But then, you can't beat girls." says Gayatri. "No fear when you are pillion in her bike", says Chitra.
Chitra is not an ordinary girl either. Challenging Boys in many races, she is the only Indian girl to have won more than 15 races. "I can jump smoothly over a 3-feet ditch with container lorries going on either side of me", she said.
"If boys are physically strong, we girls are mentally strong", says Preethika, who zooms around places on her Bullet.
"We are girls who fly at 130 Km/h on highways. Every day, I drive to my Bank for work on my Pulsar. In fact, it was my mom who bought it for me", says Swetha. She is also a National level Cricket Player.
