Mahabalipuram - Cycling trip - February 21, 2009

I felt relieved when i came to know that i am not alone and there are some other perverts who shared similar (rather bizarre!) interests. I say this because, when i told people that i am joining a bunch of guys who are going on a cycle trip to Mahabalipuram. People refused to buy my argument that it was an adventure. They preferred to call it the peak of my stupidity and a symbol of my foolhardiness. So, on Friday night, i slept with a doubt in my mind whether they would turn up for the trip or give a major Haath at the last moment. But, luckily for me, every one kept their word by turning up {though slightly late:-) }. When i saw my mates who are gonna join me in this trip, i had a feeling that we were some kinda warriors going on a tough battle. Everyone was completely geared up and were prepared mentally and physically. With a risk of sounding like an MCP(Male Chavunist Pig as these feminists put it!), I wanna describe the preparations of both the aunties who joined us. Firstly, our organizer Ms. Radha Viswanathan bought her brand new Mountain Bike just two days before the trip and her only experience on the cycle was the ride to her office on friday. This over-hyped cycle was a PIA(pain in the arse) for everyone.

Then, the other non-male with us, Ms. Midhu Koshy was soo much prepared that her cycle tyres were almost flat when she joined us. She had to fill the air somewhere on OMR. But if you mistake her to be unprepared for this trip, you are mistaken. She took the pain to get up early in the morning and apply lip-stick. But, we pardon her for the snacks she has brought:-). So, we started at around 6 AM from Tidel Park led by radha and escorted by Sreenidhi, who was visibly pained for having to wake up so early in the morning. We slowly cycled past all those huge Software buildings on OMR. As we went along, we saw the Sun rise. The scenic beauty near Thoraipakkam bowled us over and brought out the poets in us. For a moment, i just forgot that our destination was Mahabalipuram. Nidhi feasted on it by taking some amazing pics. Then, slowly we started again without bothering anything about the people who were staring at us. They think that we are odd, but, i laugh at them for being the same and doing the same old boring stuff. At last, we reached Mahabalipuram amidst lot of BBs (Bum Breaks!).

In Mahabs, we had our Brunch and then we went to the Shore temple. I don't think anyone needs any new description of the place. After that, we decided to take the ECR on our way back. Since it was afternoon, we had a hot breeze but, otherwise, i believe that ECR offers good view of the sea apart from nice breeze if we cycle in the morning or evening. Coming back was tire some though. So, we decided to rest at the pine garden on the way.

Most of the return journey was tire some because we started when the sun was at the top of our heads and some of us couldn't complete the trip entirely on cycles due to this. This list includes our famed Organizer Radha too! Again all of us met at Palavakkam and cycled together until Tidel Park where we split. Ultimately, this cycle trip was more about our mental ability rather than the physical strength.(Radha proved it!) @ ppl joining Mahabalipuram 2: Don't get cheated by Radha's sweet smiles and her mountain bike. She might come and ask you to swap cycles but that's gonna be the end of you! The cycle is a monster! Actually this cycle is an example of ALL THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD! so, guys..... take care!
